YouTuber and aircraft enthusiast Ramy RC has built what he calls the world's largest remote-controlled version of a Boeing 777-9X jet. The aircraft is not just oversized for a toy—it approaches the dimensions of a real small aircraft.
The RC plane has a wingspan of 33 feet and weighs 630 pounds, making it roughly equivalent in size to a human-piloted Cessna 150. The jet is constructed mostly from CNC-milled foam and carbon fiber. It features working landing gear, five actuators that control the flaps, and runs entirely on electric power.
Ramy built the plane in sections from 3D molded foam, then reinforced each piece with carbon fiber sheeting and sprayed it with plastic for protection. The plane started as a digital 3D model scaled down to 1/7 the size of an actual Boeing 777-9X. A CNC mill cut out separate foam parts for the fuselage, nose, and wings. Wiring runs through the aircraft to power systems like the wing flaps and landing gear doors. Two large electric ducted fans mounted where the real jet's engines sit provide propulsion.
During ground testing, the RC Boeing successfully taxied around a tarmac, lifted off, and landed multiple times. Ramy himself climbed on top of the plane and straddled it as it rolled around the facility, demonstrating its massive size. Once the team felt confident the aircraft was airworthy, they painted it white and blue with bold Boeing lettering along its side.
Ramy has become known for building ambitious oversized RC planes. His earlier projects include remote-controlled versions of a ViperJet, a Boeing 787-9, and a C-17 Globemaster. Before the new Boeing, his largest build was an RC Airbus A380 that weighed 800 pounds with a 32-foot wingspan. He has posted over 200 videos of these projects online, and his growing audience has allowed him to pursue these designs full-time after starting with models built on his kitchen floor.
Filmmaker Tyler Perry, who is also an avid RC enthusiast, piloted the RC Boeing 777-9X on its maiden flight. Perry has credited jumbo RC models like Ramy's for helping him conquer his fear of flying. With the remote control in his hands, the aircraft powered up, rolled down the tarmac, pitched up, and went airborne with the buzz of its electric fans audible from the ground. Perry flew the plane for several passes before landing it smoothly.
